More about Me

I earned a Ph.D. in sports medicine and have dedicated my life to helping people understand and overcome the pain and stress caused by injury to the body. I have been in private practice since 1963.

Assessment

My specialty is figuring out the cause of difficult-to-understand pain problems and the appropriate treatment. In 1974, I founded the Muscular Therapy Institute, a school I owned and directed for over 30 years, where people were trained in manual therapy and massage.

I continues on my mission to offer my innovative therapy techniques to enhance the quality of life for as many people as possible – to help people not simply manage their pain but be freed from it.

Your Evaluation Appointment

Assessing the problem is the first step. During the initial evaluation, we will review your history, conduct a thorough examination, and analyze your tension patterns.

The most important task of this session is to understand the problem and determine the best approach to resolving it.

We will discuss all findings and, if appropriate, make treatment recommendations. These recommendations may include:

  • Muscular therapy
  • Friction therapy
  • Myofascial therapy
  • Exercise
  • Injection therapy
  • A surgical or other medical consult

There will be plenty of time for questions, and you are welcome to call later if questions arise after you leave.

Injury Treatment Frequency

Depending on the number and severity of the injuries or pain issues present, I will suggest the appropriate time frame for each individual’s treatment sessions.

For most injury problems, it is usually recommended that clients come twice a week for the first four to six weeks and then once a week, tapering off slowly as the pain or injury abates and heals.

Treatment Sessions

Treatments cost $150 per 30-minute session. (The majority of sessions last 30 minutes, but some cases of complex or multiple injuries may require 45 or 60-minute sessions.)

Financing options and a sliding scale are available for those in need.

Appropriate Professional Behavior

Our profession ascribes to ethical behavior, as outlined in a code of ethics available here. We adhere to all of the statements in this ethical code, including a statement that practitioners and their clients should not engage in close personal relationships.

Confidentiality

Everything that is discussed in a session is completely confidential.

Insurance

Some insurance policies cover the assessment and treatment sessions, and some do not. We do not take assignments, but we will give you a receipt that can be turned in to the insurance company for reimbursement.
