Dr. Ben Benjamin can help you find pain relief without surgeryWelcome, my name is Ben Benjamin, and I have a PhD in Sports Medicine. My specialty, and what I’ve been doing for decades, is helping people find pain relief without surgery.

If you have a chronic pain that has lasted years or a mystery pain that comes and goes, I can usually pinpoint the exact location of your injuries and likely treat them.

Providing Pain Relief without Surgery

Starting the Process

First, I highly recommend seeing a physician, if you have not done so already, before you schedule an evaluation. This is not required but is beneficial to rule out anything serious.

In the evaluation, I will review your history with you and examine your pain with a variety of hands-on assessment tests.

After the assessment, we will discuss my findings and recommended next steps. If your pain is something I can treat, I will offer treatment options, and if your pain is outside of my expertise, I will refer you to another professional, as appropriate.

You are always welcome to ask questions at any point in or after the evaluation. You should feel empowered to make an informed decision.

For videos on what happens in the initial appointment, as well as more detailed information, see my Evaluation and Treatment Sessions page.

What Dr. Benjamin Can Treat

I primarily treat “soft-tissue injuries,” which means injury to your ligaments, tendons, and muscles. These types of injuries are not typically permanent and can be helped with my treatment approach of friction therapy, myofascial therapy, and muscular therapy.

We can determine what type of pain you have with your physician’s diagnosis and my evaluation of you.

The type of pain that is outside of my expertise is: neurological, disc-related, or internal organ-related.

To learn more about soft-tissue injury pain and its most common cause, see my Chronic and Referred Pain page.

A Typical Treatment Plan

In order to provide pain relief without surgery, I use a combination of muscular therapy, friction therapy, and myofascial therapy to treat you in my office.

I break up any bad scar tissue that is causing you pain, and I work on the muscles surrounding the injury to get rid of any tension.

At home, you will perform daily rehabilitative exercises that will stop the scar tissue from coming back.

Depending on the severity of your injury, I will propose you come into the office anywhere between 1-2 times per week for 2-4 months. If you’re diligent with your daily exercises, this timeframe can also shorten.

Appointment Policies and Fees

I do not take insurance or FSA/HSA payment, but I can provide receipts for you to be reimbursed, if applicable.

The evaluation fee is $250, and each 30-minute treatment is $150. The vast majority of treatment appointments are 30 minutes.
